Google launches Photovine for iPhone. Invitation only for now

Google’s Photovine service has released its application for iPhone and iPad.

The free but invite only iOS app is already listed in the App Store.

As we reported yesterday, you can now request an invite directly from the Photovine website. When you sign up for an invite, simply enter your name and email. Look into your mailbox and an email from Photovine will explain that invites will be slowly rolled out beginning later this month.

For those who don’t know what we are talking about, Photovine is a tag-based photo sharing service. Let’s say you upload a picture of your holiday in Thailand and you tag the pic ‘Thailand’. You can then explore photos, uploaded by other users, with the same ‘Thailand’ tag.

From Photovine App Store:

Photovine is a fun way to learn more about your friends, meet new people, and share your world like never before. It all starts with what we call a photovine: a group of photos around a single, shared caption. Start a new vine with a photo and caption of your own or add your photo/take on someone else’s vine.
Photovine is invite-only at the moment, so you’ll be asked to enter your email address after installing the app. If you haven’t already been invited to Photovine by a friend, you can visit our website at photovine.com to request an invitation.
